The best free Linktree alternatives in October 2026 are Posy, Carrd, Taplink, Beacons and LinkStack, plus Instagram's own five bio links. Each has a free plan that never expires. The catch is always one of four things: branding on your page, no custom domain, a cut of your sales, or a cap on links or sites.

Below is what each free plan includes and what makes you pay, read from each vendor's own pricing page or help docs in October 2026. Prices and plans change, so check before you commit. I make Posy, one of the tools here, so I have tried to be as plain about its limits as about everyone else's.

#Posy

Posy is an open-source link in bio where each look is a drawn scene rather than a template. On the Desk look your photos become polaroids and a Spotify link becomes a record.

Free: unlimited links, music, videos and photos; the Painted, Desk and Lofi looks in every colour and layout; editing by hand or through your AI app; 30 days of visit stats.

Costs money: your own domain, the Washi, Cobalt and Night looks, removing the "Made with Posy" link, and a year of stats with CSV export. Pro is $5 a month or $48 a year.

Completely free route: self-hosting. Posy is MIT licensed, and a self-hosted copy has every look with no badge. See how to self-host it.

The Desk look on a phone

Painted, free on posy.page, on a laptop and a phone.

#Linktree

The default, and still a reasonable free choice. According to Linktree's pricing page, Free includes unlimited links, core appearance options and basic analytics.

Costs money: removing Linktree branding, deeper analytics, and lower fees on sales. Its plan comparison lists a 12% Linktree fee on digital product sales on Free, falling on paid plans, with Stripe's processing fee on top. Starter is $6 a month billed yearly, or $8 monthly.

Pick it when you want the best-known name and may grow into its business tools. More in Posy vs Linktree.

#Carrd

Carrd builds small one-page websites and is popular for link pages. Per Carrd's plan docs, the free Basic plan lets you build up to 3 sites.

Costs money: removing "Made with Carrd", a custom domain and forms. Pro Lite is $9 a year and drops the branding but has no custom domain. Pro Standard at $19 a year adds custom domains and forms.

Pick it when you want to arrange a page yourself and do not mind spending time on it. The paid plans are also the cheapest here by far. See Posy vs Carrd.

#Beacons

Beacons is a creator business kit: link in bio, store, email and media kit. Per Beacons' pricing page, it has a $0 plan that is "free forever".

Costs money: custom domains, unlimited email sends and lower sales fees. Beacons charges 9% on sales on the Free and Creator plans and 0% on Creator Plus and Creator Max. Paid plans start at $10 a month, or $8.33 a month billed yearly.

Pick it when you sell digital products and want everything under one login, and 9% is acceptable while you start. See Posy vs Beacons.

Taplink is popular for Instagram, especially outside the US. Taplink's site lists a "permanently free" Basic plan with unlimited links, pre-designed themes, text blocks, maps, page view stats and a QR code.

Costs money: images, video and music blocks and click analytics are on Pro. Removing Taplink branding, a custom domain and payments are on Business. Paid plans are billed for at least three months, and prices vary by country.

Pick it when you want a simple page with messaging buttons and do not need media on the free plan.

#LinkStack

LinkStack is an open-source, self-hosted Linktree alternative under the AGPL-3.0 licence. Per LinkStack's site, it runs on a PHP 8 web server or with Docker, and there are free community instances.

Costs money: nothing, if you host it. Hosted instances from the project start at $1 a month.

Pick it when you already run PHP hosting, or want a multi-user link page for a group. If you prefer a Node app with an AI connector, see open source link in bio or Posy vs LinkStack.

If you only need Instagram, you may not need a tool. Per the Meta Help Center, you can add up to 5 links to your bio without a subscription. A Meta One subscription raises that to 20 with a shareable link page.

The catch: only the first link shows on your profile, with "and 4 others" behind a tap, and you cannot use it on TikTok, YouTube or your email signature. Steps are in how to add a link in your Instagram bio.

#A completely free shortlist

If "free" means no branding and no fees, ever, the honest list is short:

  • Self-hosted Posy or LinkStack. Free software on a server you run. Your cost is the server and your time.
  • Instagram's 5 links. Free and branding-free, but Instagram only.
  • Carrd Pro Lite is not free, but at $9 a year it is the cheapest way to drop branding on a hosted page.

Every hosted free plan above shows some branding. That is how they pay for hosting, and it is a fair trade if you know it is there.

#Where Posy is not the right pick

  • You want a custom domain for free. Posy's custom domain is Pro. Self-hosting is the free way to get one.
  • You sell from the page. Posy has no checkout. Beacons or a Linktree paid plan fit better.
  • You want to design every pixel. Posy's looks are drawn for you. Carrd gives you a blank canvas.
