Chapter one: Leaving Linktree

Is Linktree free? What the free plan includes in 2026

Yes, Linktree has a free plan with unlimited links. What it includes, what it charges on sales, what needs a paid plan, and whether it stays free. Checked October 2026.

Yes, Linktree is free. Its Free plan costs nothing, has no end date and includes unlimited links, basic analytics and a QR code. What it does not include is hiding the Linktree logo, analytics older than 28 days, or selling without a fee: Linktree keeps 12% of digital product and course sales on Free.

That comes from Linktree's own pricing page and help center, read on 17 October 2026. Below is what Free includes, what each paid plan adds, the fees when you sell, and the one thing no Linktree plan offers. I make Posy, a different link in bio, so I have kept the Linktree facts to what Linktree itself publishes.

#What Linktree Free includes

Per Linktree's plan comparison in October 2026, the Free plan has:

  • Unlimited links, with thumbnails, icons and featured links.
  • Base themes and the core appearance options.
  • Basic analytics: views and clicks for the last 28 days.
  • A QR code for your page, and a link shortener.
  • Selling tools: digital products, courses, Linktree Shop and sponsored links, with fees (more below).

For a page that lists your socials, a shop and your latest video, that is enough. Plenty of people never pay.

#What Free does not include

The limits are where the paid plans begin.

  • The Linktree logo stays. Hiding it starts on Pro. Starter keeps it.
  • History stops at 28 days. Starter shows 90 days, Pro a year and Premium all time. Exporting your data is Premium only.
  • No scheduled links. Making a link go live at a set time starts on Starter.
  • No per-link analytics. The per-link breakdown starts on Starter.
  • No custom domain, on any plan. Linktree's help center says: "We don't offer the option to use a custom domain to replace the linktr.ee URL." Your page stays at linktr.ee/yourname whatever you pay. It suggests a Redirect link instead.

That last point matters more than it looks. If you ever leave, the address in every bio, slide and business card has to change.

#The fees when you sell

Linktree Free lets you sell digital products and courses, and keeps a share. From the plan comparison table on 17 October 2026:

  • Free: 12% on digital products and courses.
  • Starter: 9%.
  • Pro: 9% in the table, although the Pro plan card says "Sell and earn with 0% fees". The two disagree, so confirm at checkout before you count on either.
  • Premium: 0%.

The table adds that transaction and processing fees may also apply, and Linktree's FAQ says it charges USD $0.25 per payout. So on a $20 template sold from a Free page, $2.40 goes to Linktree before processing.

The fee is only on sales made through Linktree. If your shop is on Gumroad, Shopify or Etsy and the page just links to it, Linktree takes nothing.

Read from linktr.ee/s/pricing on 17 October 2026. Linktree prices by region; in the US, Starter is $6 a month billed yearly or $8 monthly. Pro and Premium start with a 7-day free trial. For the Indian prices in detail, see Linktree pricing in India. Weighing an upgrade? Read is Linktree Pro worth it.

#Is Linktree free forever?

The Free plan is not a trial. The pricing page gives it no end date, and the paid plans are upgrades, not a requirement. Linktree can change its plans like any company, but nothing it publishes today makes Free expire.

The trials are the part to watch. Pro and Premium each offer 7 days free. If you start one to try a feature, put a reminder in your calendar for day six.

#When the free plan is enough

Free is a fine choice if all of these are true:

  • You share links and do not sell through the page.
  • You do not mind the Linktree logo at the bottom.
  • 28 days of stats answers your questions, such as "did people tap the new video link?"
  • You are happy for your address to be linktr.ee/yourname for good.

If two or more are false, compare before you pay. Linktree Pro in India is Rs 440 a month on a yearly plan, which is a real cost for a page of links.

#Free alternatives, briefly

If what bothers you on Free is the logo, the fee or the address, other tools draw the line in different places. A few, as of October 2026:

  • Carrd is free for up to 3 sites. Pro Lite at $9 a year removes the branding; a custom domain needs Pro Standard at $19 a year. See Linktree vs Carrd.
  • Beacons is free forever with a 9% fee on sales, which drops to 0% on its higher plans. See Linktree vs Beacons.
  • Instagram gives you up to 5 bio links with no tool at all. Steps are in how to add a link in your Instagram bio.
  • Posy, which I make, is free with unlimited links and three looks. Pro at $5 a month adds a custom domain.

The full list, with each plan's catch, is in free Linktree alternatives.

#Where Posy fits

Posy is an open-source link in bio where each page is a drawn scene: a watercolour, a desk of polaroids, a lofi desktop. It answers two of the Linktree Free complaints directly. Your own domain is on Pro at $5 a month or $48 a year, and Posy takes no cut of anything, because it does not process sales at all. Free still shows a small "Made with Posy" link and keeps 30 days of visit stats.

If you want everything without paying, Posy is MIT licensed, and a self-hosted copy has every look and no badge. See how to self-host it, or Posy vs Linktree for a side-by-side.

#Where Posy is not the right pick

  • You sell from your bio page. Posy has no checkout. Linktree's selling tools, or a storefront like Beacons, do that and Posy does not.
  • You want a free plan with no badge. Posy Free shows "Made with Posy", just as Linktree Free shows its logo. Removing it is Pro.
  • You rely on Linktree's integrations. Linktree has a large marketplace of link apps. Posy has a smaller set of tile types.
  • Your linktr.ee address is already in print everywhere. Moving means updating every place it appears, which may not be worth it.
