Pick Linktree if you mostly share links and want the best-known name. Pick Beacons if you sell digital products and want a store, email list and media kit in one account. On fees, as of October 2026, Beacons Free takes 9% of sales and Linktree Free takes 12%. Only Beacons offers a custom domain.
Both have free plans that never expire, and both are now more than a list of links. The difference is what each is built around: Linktree around the link page and its analytics, Beacons around the creator business behind it. Figures below are from Linktree's pricing page and Beacons' pricing page, both read on 17 October 2026. I make Posy, a third option mentioned near the end, so weigh that part accordingly.
#The short answer
- You share links and do not sell: either free plan works. Linktree is the safer default because more people recognise it.
- You sell digital products: Beacons. Its 9% on Free is lower than Linktree's 12%, and the store, email and media kit are built around selling.
- You want your own domain: Beacons on a paid plan. Linktree does not offer one on any plan.
- You want the page to look unlike either: neither is designed for that. See the end of this post.
#Free plans side by side
Linktree Free includes unlimited links, base themes, basic analytics for the last 28 days, a QR code, a link shortener, and selling tools with a 12% fee on digital products and courses. The Linktree logo stays on the page.
Beacons Free is described on its pricing page as "free forever". It includes the link in bio, selling digital products with a 9% fee, and 30 daily AI credits for Beam, its AI assistant, which Beacons says can design a page from a text prompt.
Both are real free plans rather than trials. The practical difference on free is the fee if you sell, and how much of the business toolkit you want.
#Fees on sales
This is where the two differ most, and where it pays to read both pages on the day you decide.
Linktree, from its plan comparison table: 12% on Free, 9% on Starter, 9% on Pro and 0% on Premium, for digital products and courses. The Pro plan card says "Sell and earn with 0% fees", which disagrees with the table, so confirm at checkout. Linktree also charges USD $0.25 per payout, and processing fees may apply on top.
Beacons, from its FAQ: 9% on all sales on the Free and Creator plans, and 0% on Creator Plus and Creator Max. Beacons pays out to your Stripe or PayPal account.
On $500 of sales in a month, that is $60 to Linktree on Free and $45 to Beacons on Free, before processing. If your sales are steady, price the 0% plan on each side against what you would pay in fees.
If you sell elsewhere and only link to the shop, neither takes anything. The fees apply only to sales that go through their checkout.

#Design and editing
Linktree gives you themes, button and font styles, and backgrounds, with advanced themes on Pro. It has apps for iOS and Android, so you can edit from your phone. The result is clean and familiar: a column of buttons under your photo.
Beacons lists colours, fonts, layouts, backgrounds, link styles and headers, plus custom or stock image and video backgrounds, a template library and sub-pages. Its Beam assistant can generate a design from a prompt.
In both, the starting shape is a stack of blocks, and both sit firmly in the "list of buttons" family. Which feels better is a matter of taste, so build a test page on each before you commit. It takes a few minutes and costs nothing.
#Analytics
Linktree Free shows views and clicks for the last 28 days. Paid plans extend that to 90 days, a year, then all time, and only Premium exports the data.
Beacons describes its analytics as showing what your audience clicks, where they come from and how traffic turns into sales, and you can ask Beam questions about them. Its pricing page does not say how far back the free plan's history goes, so check that on a test account if it matters to you. For a creator who sells, the sales side is the useful part.
#Who should pick which
- Pick Linktree if your page is mainly links, you value the name and the phone app, and you may later want scheduling or the marketplace of link apps.
- Pick Beacons if you sell digital products, pitch brands with a media kit, or want your email list in the same account as your page.
- Pick Beacons if you want your own domain. Linktree's help center says it does not offer one.
- Use both if you like. Plenty of creators keep a Beacons store and point to it from a separate bio page.
#If neither fits: Posy for the look
If what you want is a page that does not look like a stack of buttons, Posy is built for that. I make it, so take this as one paragraph rather than a verdict. Each page is drawn as a scene: links become polaroids on a desk, a Spotify link becomes a record, the background is a watercolour or a lofi desktop. Free has unlimited links and three looks. Pro is $5 a month and adds your own domain. Posy does not sell anything for you, so there is no fee to compare. More in Posy vs Beacons and Posy vs Linktree.

#Where Posy is not the right pick
- You sell from the page. Posy has no checkout, store or email list. Beacons or Linktree do that.
- You want a media kit. Beacons has one built in. Posy does not.
- You want the most familiar link page. Linktree is still the one people recognise at a glance.
